In 2018 Deaf Services began speaking to a number of NDIS participants to learn more about their NDIS journey and what other Deaf people could learn about those experiences.

Cheryl is one of Deaf Services NDIS clients in Townsville and shared her story and NDIS journey. For Cheryl the NDIS has provided valuable access and life skills. This has given her with a greater self-confidence and more faith in her own ability. 
 

"I feel confident now where in the past I wasn’t confident and couldn’t do a lot. I would accept my situation as it was, but now with the NDIS I can stand up for my rights and that makes me feel good. I have a better future now that I can do things for myself."
