Launching on 1 January 2018, the Deaf Services 'Interpreting for Seniors' project offers pro-bono Auslan interpreting services for groups of Deaf and hard of hearing seniors who want to participate in community social inclusion activities. 

 

Throughout 2018 Deaf Services is providing $125,000 of interpreting that can be used by seniors who wish to undertake social activities in small groups. 
 

Social activities covered by the project include: 

  • Hobbies and club activities 

  • Sports, fitness and health-related activities

  • Respite groups

  • Family gatherings for special occasions, and more. 

 

Already throughout 2018 a number of groups have made the most of the program - attending a range of social activities, tours, hobbies and more.
